Description Description

These tools have a much shorter up-cut section than the standard compression tools. They are ideal for mortising, grooving and dado.

Cut Diameter: 3/8"

Shank: 3/8"

Cut Length: 7/8"

Overall Length: 3"

Upcut Length: 1/8"

Flute Type: Mortise Compression

 Excellent for cutting:

  • MDF/HDF
  • Laminate
  • Laminated Plywood
  • Melamine
  • Particle Board
  • Softwood/Hardwood
  • Veneered Plywood

A compression bit is the combination of both upcut and downcut spirals. The lower part of the cutter has an upcut single spiral flute and the upper part is ground to give a downcutting spiral flute geometry.

By combining both geometries, you achieve a win/win situation. The bottom of the material is pulled upwards while the top of the material is pushed downwards thus eliminating the risk of damaging the laminated surfaces. When run at full depth, the bit leaves a sharp, clean edge on both sides of the workpiece.
